Teachers' Handbook 2009 WA

Welcome to the 2009 AMEB(WA) Teachers' Handbook.

I am delighted to inform you that this 2009 Teachers’ Handbook contains some important information to which I would particularly like to draw to your attention.

In 2009 the AMEB has introduced three new syllabuses in Piano, Clarinet and Saxophone. The first three pages of the Handbook clarify the use of these new syllabuses as well as the continuing use of the old syllabuses (2008) in these instruments. This information is also on this Website on the page titled AMEB News 2009.

Please note in particular that Series 14 piano books are still current if you use the 2008 syllabus. Series 14 piano books have NOT been withdrawn. Teachers will be given 12 months notice of the withdrawal of any Series books and/or syllabuses.

There are a number of clarifications and corrections to the 2009 Manual of Syllabuses. These can be found in the Handbook on pages 19 - 21 and also on this Website on the page titled AMEB News 2009.

Please note that AMEB(WA) has included an information sheet about use of the new and old syllabuses and changes and corrections to the 2009 Manual with each 2009 Manual of Syllabuses sold from its office to individuals, shops and organisations. If you did not receive this sheet, please print the pdf supplied on our Website page titled AMEB News 2009. All the information mentioned above is on this information sheet.

AMEB music and speech practical and theoretical examinations are officically approved by the Curriculum Council of Western Australia as Endorsed Programs. To find out what this means for your student(s) kindly refer to Page 28 -29 for full details.

This information can be also printed out from our Website Page titled AMEB Curriculum Council.

I would also commend your attention to the list of metropolitan and country AMEB Workshop Dates that are on Page 26. Further details about particular activities will be posted as appropriate.

As usual, all the other relevent details to do with dates, procedures, examination preparation and a wealth of related information are included in this 2009 Handbook, so I would encourage your perusal of the whole document to be better informed about the AMEB in WA.

I look forward to interacting with you this year as the AMEB continues to expand its examinations and teacher support services throughout WA.
