Who we are

The Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB) is the most prestigious and well-recognised examination system in Australia. With a tradition of excellence stretching back over a century, it provides graded assessments for music, speech and drama students in both practical and theoretical examinations.

AMEB WA is affiliated to The University of Western Australia through the Conservatorium of Music and receives financial support from the Western Australian Government through the Department of Education.

Exam Timetable, Fees and Online Enrolment

AMEB WA examines from March through to December each year in the Perth metropolitan area. Piano and Piano for Leisure are examined every week. Instruments, speech, voice, diploma and Rockschool examinations are assigned to specific weeks within the timetable.

Examinations are offered in Albany, Esperance, Bunbury, Port Hedland, Kalgoorlie and Geraldton, subject to sufficient enrolments.

AMEB Country Catch-Ups (MS Teams)

AMEB Teachers and Enrollers based in the regions are invited to join AMEB Academic Advisor Dr Gaby Gunders for a free online catch-up to discuss all things AMEB Exams. Whether you are a parent or a teacher, if you have questions about exam processes, student preparation or any other queries about our exams, join us for an informal chat and Q&A. This is also a great networking opportunity for our regionally based colleagues.

Candidates achieving excellent results (A+) in grades 4 and above will be invited to perform in the High Achievers’ Concert series. These concerts seek to offer a platform to acknowledge achievement, develop performance skills, and celebrate candidates and their teachers.

AMEB Alumni Performances

Jude Holland (AMusA 2019 and LMusA 2020) performs with the UWA Conservatorium of Music Chamber Orchestra in the Finals of the 2021 Irwin Street Collective Instrumental & Vocal Competition.

Max Wung attained distinctions in the AMEB Associate and Licentiate Music Diploma exams on cello. Here he is performing the finals of the prestigious Vose Concerto Competition with the UWA Symphony Orchestra on stage at the Perth Concert Hall.

The WA State Office is located on the Claremont campus of The University of Western Australia, on the corner of Princess and Goldsworthy Roads in Claremont. The office is at the eastern end of the stone heritage-listed building. Visitors are asked to park in Car Park 2 (paid parking) accessible from Goldsworthy Road and to please observe and comply with all signage.
