The Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB) is the most prestigious and well-recognised examination system in Australia, with a tradition of excellence stretching back almost a century.

The AMEB arose out of a program of public examinations in music initiated in 1887 by the University of Adelaide. Subsequently, it emerged in 1918 as a national body with the purpose of providing graded assessments of the achievements of music students and later for students of speech and drama.

Today, AMEB syllabuses designed by experts in the fields of music, speech and drama reflect our modern society, catering for an increasingly diverse range of student needs. No matter where your interests lie, you will find something of relevance in our syllabuses, our publications and in our metropolitan and country examinations.

Our entire AMEB team welcomes your interest and looks forward to your involvement with us.
