Welcome to the AMEB in Western Australia. You are visiting the local website of the most prestigious and well recognised examination system in Australia, with a tradition of excellence stretching back almost a century. Today, AMEB syllabuses in Music, Speech and Drama reflect our modern society, catering for an increasingly diverse range of student needs. No matter where your interests lie, you are bound to find something of relevance in our syllabus content, in our metropolitan and country examination structure and in our publications. Click on the AMEB Publications and Music Access page for more information on access to AMEB publications and manual list music. One of the strengths of the AMEB is that it is founded, developed and managed in Australia. Here, it is administered by the University of Western Australia through its School of Music. There are over 2,400 local teachers on our user list, and over 5,000 of their students access our examinations each year. The examining team represents some of the most respected musicians and music educators in WA. They are committed to providing students with the type of feedback that identifies their strengths and suggests possible areas for improvement. All our assessment is based on published criteria which are designed to support the development of high standards yet cater for individual differences. The AMEB(WA) office is open 5 days a week and our staff will be pleased to advise or assist if you need more information than is contained on the following pages. Our entire AMEB team welcomes your interest and looks forward to your involvement with us. Please refer to the Syllabus News page for all information on syllabuses that are available for use in 2013.
